For over 35 years, I worked in the defense industry, climbing the ladder and earning a six-figure income. But eventually, the external conflict at work left me drained and wondering what else life could look like. My wife invited me into her real estate world, and at first, I struggled. In 2023, I launched my own investment company. I partnered with a contractor and a hard money lender, and in the first year, we renovated 8 homes profitably. The best part? We kept them affordable so more families could step into homeownership. It wasn’t without challenges — the shifting 2024 market forced me into tougher projects, longer timelines, and even holding a rental. But the wins outweighed the setbacks. Today, I have freedom, impact, and credibility — not just from success, but from building homes, jobs, and community. And honestly, I wish I had taken the leap sooner.
